Rawalpindi Test: Openers of both the teams scored centuries

Abdullah Shafiq and Imam-ul-Haq made an opening partnership of 225 runs.

In Rawalpindi Test, for the first time in the history of Test cricket, the openers of both the teams scored centuries in the first innings.

According to the sports website Rotohog , Pakistan’s Abdullah Shafiq and Imamul Haq scored centuries while England’s Ben Ducett and Zach Crowley also scored centuries in the first innings.

Apart from this achievement, for the first time in the history of Test cricket, the openers of the two teams also scored an opening partnership of more than 200 runs.

Zac Crowley and Ben Dickett gave an opening stand of 233 runs in the first innings of the Rawalpindi Test. Whereas Abdullah Shafiq and Imam-ul-Haq also created the record of establishing the biggest opening partnership on behalf of Pakistan.

It should be noted that Abdullah Shafiq and Imam-ul-Haq made an opening partnership of 225 runs in the first innings against England.

Earlier in 1984, Mohsin Hasan and Shoaib Muhammad had given an opening stand of 173 runs against England.
